Custom Car Covers a Plus or Not

There has always been a argument about whether or not the custom car cover a better buy than a semi custom car cover. Well hopefully today we will get to the bottom of this subject. There are many vehicle cover manufactures making custom covers today. They make them custom to your year, make and model of your vehicle or you can ask for custom covers made to your dimensions. This process ends up with a cover that fits your vehicle form and also has mirror pockets. These covers come in a wide variety of colors and materials that can have your custom logo also. The one thing that is a given is you will pay top dollar for these covers. There are pluses to having a custom cover made for you like the fit, these covers will fit to the form of your vehicle this does cut down on rubbing your finish in the weather on windy or stormy days. Having mirror pockets also keeps the cover form fitted to your vehicle. Then there is color and material choices. The color choice is important as to the sun's rays being reflected or absorbed. This is the UV factor when you have a light color the UV rays will be reflected away from the cover and it will last longer and keep it cooler in the hot climates. When you choose a dark color the sun's rays will be absorbed and the UV ray's will break down the material quicker and the vehicle will collect the heat in hot weather. Some of the negatives are the cost, the custom cover will cost you as much as three times as a semi custom cover. The custom cover is a tight fitting cover and when it comes to putting it on and off you will spend a lot more time doing this and those mirror pockets can be a pain in the butt. When you are ordering a custom cover the sales person or web site will try to sell you as much extras as they can this will drive the price up and even if money is no option you still will feel this in your pocket book. There are many options to choose from like logos, storage bags, stitching color, inserts, multiple color covers, treatments like UV or Waterproofing. All these extras will cost more and more. So buyer beware you can spend a lot of money on a custom cover that has warranties the same as semi covers or even shorter.

The semi custom covers, this won't take long because they are made with the customer in mind. When you are looking for a semi custom cover the manufacturer has made them easy to buy. The covers are made to fit more then one vehicle and with out a lot of fancy stuff to think about. They come in only a few colors to choose from and they come with their own storage bag. They have a good choice of materials to choose from. The covers come with water and UV treatments at no extra cost. The cost is right on the mark. When you are looking for one of the semi custom covers the best place to get one is on the Internet. There are many great sites to choose from and they offer good information and e-mail or phone help if you need it. It is easy to find your cover for your vehicle as most of the sites have a sizing system where you simply input your year, make, and model and a selection of covers in different color and material are there to choose from. If the site doesn't have this system they will have a sizing chart you can look up your vehicle on or all you need to do is measure the length of your vehicle and look for that cover size on the site. If you still need help just call or e-mail them and they will be happy to help. All the semi covers come with elastic on the front and back hem to adjust to a good fit for your vehicle, and they come with tie down grommets to us with a cable lock for security or just to help keep it snug and prevent the wind from getting under the cover causing billowing or loss of cover. When it comes to putting the cover on and off not being as much of a tight fit will make it a lot quicker and your won't have to fight with the mirror pockets. Bottom line the semi custom covers have great warranties, ease of selection and won't put a dent in your pocket book.

Car Covers In The Wet And Cold Weather

Hello again time for another article about car covers. This week we will talk about the wet weather and how your car cover handles it. I live in Northern Arizona and we have been getting a lot of rain this year during the monsoon season. I have a waterproof cover for my Jeep and when it rains there is some moisture under it, I thought it was waterproof and it is, the moisture I'm seeing is condensation from the temperature change when the rainy weather come blowing in. Even though I live in Northern Arizona the day time temps can get up there around 102 degrees some days. And when the rainy weather come the temps will drop by 20 to 30 degrees and this can cause condensation to form under the cover. So it may look as if the cover is leaking but it's not, if you give it some time after the rain has stopped and things start to dry out the cover is made to breath and this will wick away the condensation from under the cover. If you have a rain storm and the cover is wet and the day turns to night you will defiantly have condensation under the cover in the morning. The drop in temps will cause this to happen and if you can leave the cover on you will find it will dry out underneath in just a little while. If you live in parts of the country that gets very cold like below freezing you may find your cover stuck to the vehicle, this happens when during the day the sun warms up your vehicles finish and causes condensation to form under the cover and as the temps fall below freezing the cover freezes to your vehicles finish. If you have time to let the cover warm up it will come off your vehicle with out hurting the cover. But if you need to get the cover off right now we suggest pouring hot water on the cover to help it release from the finish. If you try to force the cover off you will damage it and it may lose it's waterproofing capabilities.

There are two different types or waterproof covers, first there is the water resistant cover, this cover isn't waterproof but it will help stop some of the water from getting underneath the cover and still will breath to help dry out after the storm. The true waterproof cover is 100% waterproof meaning that no water can get under the cover, but you will see condensation under it so don't think it is leaking because it's not. It also can breath and will dry out after just a little time. I get this question a lot about waterproof covers and they always think it's leaking, so then I have to explain about the condensation factor. These water resistant and waterproof covers are also mildew and mold resistant and UV treated to stand up in all kinds of weather. When your cover gets wet you should try to dry it out before you fold it up or stuff it in the storage bag, this will help it to last longer and to maintain the waterproof treatment as well as the mold and UV treatment. We suggest if you can to leave the cover on the car until it is dry or if you must take it off wet, to lay it out unfolded so it can dry before storing it away.

I hope this information has been helpful in answering some of your questions and explaining some proper care of your covers. If you would like more information about vehicle covers and accessories please visit us at http://www.clickitcoverit.com

Car Covers And The Last Lotus Drive

As the writer for the Internet website ClickitCoverit.Com I sometimes hear stories that make my heart drop. The other day I got a phone call from the owner of LotusOwners his name is Tony he was trying to get a couple of car covers sent to him right away. He lives in New York and has had a club for Lotus owners for the last 20 some years. He had asked if I could send two Tyvek covers right away because one of the club members was not doing so well and they need the covers for a road trip they are taking on 8/18/2010. I told him that we would make sure he would get the two covers before 8/17. He then told me why it was so important that these covers arrive before there trip. A gentleman named Floyd was going to take what maybe his last trip in his super 7 Lotus that his son had bought for him. His son lives in Hong Kong and had bought this lotus for his father as a gift before he dies of cancer. Tony had told me that his son called him and told him to find a super 7 lotus so he could give it to his father and he could take a trip before he passed away. Tony said that he would do this for him and got the car. Floyd was concerned that it might rain on there trip in New York and asked Tony to get covers for their cars he didn't want them to get wet. I have gone to Tony's website LotusOwners on the front page you will see Floyd setting in his super 7 lotus. This story has touched my heart and my blessings go out to Floyd and his family. The Tyvek covers we are sending to Tony will work well to protect there vehicles in the sun and wet weather, they are light weight and are mold and mildew resistant. Yes the covers will arrive well before there trip I have made sure of that under the circumstances. This is just one of the stories I have heard working in the retail car cover business. I have been writing articles now for almost two years and I enjoy it very much.

There are a lot of different types of car covers being sold on the Internet today and the Tyvek cover is one of the best, it is made of a Dupont material that is high in UV and heat protection also water repellent as well as mold and mildew resistant. This cover is made for all kinds of applications including cars, trucks, vans, RVs, SUVs, boats and more... The protection it provides is well worth the cost.

Car Covers Custom Or Semi Custom ?

The question is are custom covers better then the semi custom covers. The custom cover makers claim that a custom cover is a better product and to some extent that is true. When you buy a custom cover you can ask for a lot of extras that will also cost you more. This will take longer to receive it at your door. Yes there is a bigger selection on options with custom covers like mirror pockets, logos, colors and material choice. If you think that mirror pockets are cool well I have talked to many people that have told me how they are a pain when covering and uncovering there vehicle. They have also told me how that it is the first place the cover wears out. Yes the cover looks better with mirror pockets but are they worth the hassle? A semi custom cover fits right over the mirrors and will not take additional time to get put on. Even if you have a truck with large mirrors the semi custom cover will adapt to them were the custom cover will not. If you were to change you mirrors after you bought the custom cover it will no longer fit your vehicle. So in my opinion the semi custom covers are better because the are without mirror pockets.

Logo's are a nice touch for your car cover, things manufacturer logo's, even sport logo's, there all types of logo's to make your vehicle reflect how you are. When you buy a semi custom cover most retailers don't offer logo's but you can have it done for yourself at any alteration shop that does that kind of work and the cost is minimal. So it may be nice to have your custom cover with the logo but this will also slow down the delivery time. If you would like a logo on your semi custom cover you can have it and you will receive the cover a lot sooner.

Colors are a nice touch and that is one thing the custom cover can offer to you. Most of the semi custom retailers only offer a few colors. If this is a high point then you will pay a bigger price for this were as the semi custom cover will not come with the higher price due to color.

Material choice is something you will have to decide and it can make a lot of difference as to how the cover will preform and also protect your vehicle. The custom covers come in a lot of material choices from interior dust covers to show covers and of course exterior covers. They will have a bigger selection of material types to pick from and this will make it a harder choice for you. The semi custom covers will only offer you the material choices you need to properly protect your vehicle, a light weight material for interior use, the three layer covers for exterior exposure like sun, rain, snow and ice. The four layer cover that provides all the protection of the three layer covers plus a interior lining of fleece to help protect your clear coat finish on your new or repainted vehicles. This extra protection is a must to keep your finish looking new for an extended amount of time. This makes buying a semi custom cover a much easier choice overall and you will be receiving your cover much sooner then a custom cover.

As a web retail seller of semi custom covers for all vehicle applications I find that my customers are happier with their choice and can cover the vehicles in a couple of days not weeks waiting for the custom cover to arrive. My website offers all the customer care that the custom cover sites offer and the warranties are even better and the return and exchange is better. When you order a custom cover if there is anything wrong with the cover it is harder to return and exchange because it has been made custom for you and your vehicle. The warranties are short and won't cover all the things the semi custom cover warranty covers.
